Europe’s Ryder Cup victory understandably dominates sporting news this morning, but it doesn’t take too long to find mention of the Blues.

A number of media outlets have picked up on Sergio Aguero’s comments about Premier League officials who, he feels, give foreign players a raw deal when it comes to big decisions.

The 24-year-old was speaking after City team-mates Carlos Tevez and Pablo Zabaleta were denied penalties by referee Mark Halsey in Saturday’s 2-1 win at Fulham.

“Sergio Aguero has accused Barclays Premier League referees of anti-foreigner bias when it comes to spotting divers,” writes Sam Cunningham and Matt Barlow of the Daily Mail.

“The Manchester City striker is convinced that imports are more likely to get a raw deal over penalty appeals.”

The paper also quotes the 24-year-old in his own words: “We just play our game and the referee’s job is to know who is tricking him and who is not,” he said.

 

There is a little bit of privilege with players who come from this country. Here in England, there are almost as many foreign players as English players and it’s not right that some have a privilege that others don’t.

Elsewhere, Charlton boss Chris Powell has been speaking of his delight at the loan signing of City’s Abdul Razak.

The Ivory Coast international is on a three month deal at the Valley and Powell told website London 24 that he’s more than pleased with the move.

“For a player that’s so young obviously you are looking for someone to fit into the pace of things straight away,” said Powell.

“We had him watched against Villa and he did very well, and we’ve had our eye on him for quite a while,” he revealed.

“He went out to Brighton last year and we are hopeful he will bring his qualities and do extremely well for us, because we have lost a few players recently through injury.

“I’ve wanted to bolster the midfield area and get the numbers in there, as I just felt it was an area that needed looking at. So he’s come in and will have to earn the right to play, but hopefully he will do very well for us.”
