For the last two years, we have been proud to sponsor City in the Community’s Kickz project and play a part in helping the young people of Manchester spend their time constructively.  We are also delighted to continue our long standing relationship with the scheme’s partners, Manchester City Council and Greater Manchester Police, to help support their objective of impacting positively on the local community.

As a leading provider of security solutions, this type of initiative directly supports our policy of supporting young children through sport.  We believe that, by investing in local communities, we are helping prevent the causes of anti-social behaviour and reduce crime, which not only benefits the children involved, but also the staff and visitors we supply our services to.

G4S is a truly global organisation, however the company enjoys a significant and long standing partnership with MCFC locally that dates back to the days at "Maine Road".  With over 2,500 staff working within the North West, across many different business sectors, whether you are enjoying a concert at Heaton Park, watching the cricket at LCCC or catching a train to Piccadilly, G4S is there to ensure a safe and secure environment.

As the principal security supplier to Manchester City Council and supporters of the Council's Staff Excellence Awards and the Greater Manchester Police Chief Constables` Excellence Awards for several years, G4S also recognises the excellent work that is done within the Manchester communities.

The University of Manchester

At The University of Manchester we have developed a comprehensive and exciting programme of activities for prospective students and their influencers.

This consists of work with primary, secondary and further education students as well as teachers, careers advisers and parents. Our work is informed by the following aims:

  • To promote opportunities for progression to higher education generally, wherever that might be.
  • To identify and attract talented students to Manchester from all educational backgrounds.

To achieve these aims we aim to provide a suite of professional, interactive and highly imaginative activities that can enthuse and inform learners about the range of opportunities and pathways open to them when considering higher education.

We are mindful of the need for learners to be able to access high-quality information, advice and guidance about higher education.

To this end we also work closely with teachers, careers advisers and parents on a range of activities.

One of the ways in which we are working with primary learners in the local area is in partnership the City in the Community Team and their Learning Through Football programme.

This is an educational project aimed at Year 5 & 6 pupils (age 10 & 11), the content of the project aims to use MCFC as a learning tool to engage young people in National Curriculum subjects – literacy, numeracy, geography, ICT, science, and modern foreign language.

This year student volunteers from The University of Manchester’s Manchester Leadership Programme (MLP) will be joining the CITC staff to deliver these sessions in schools and talk about their experience of being a university student.

This additional input will encourage the pupils to think about their own aspirations for the future and encourage them to think about further and higher education.
